Bio
Conroy H. is a New Zealand born pianist, composer, and dedicated educator based in New York City. With a passion for nurturing a love for music, Conroy is committed to providing comprehensive instruction tailored to each individual’s goals and aspirations.
Starting his musical journey at the age of eight, Conroy’s dedication to the piano led him to pursue a Bachelor of Music in Classical Piano Performance at The University of Auckland, where he studied with Dr. Rae de Lisle and Matteo Napoli. He then pursued his Master of Music in Piano Performance at Mannes School of Music, studying with Pavlina Dokovska. Throughout his studies, Conroy distinguished himself as a Haydn Staples Piano Scholar, as well as performed in various venues around the world, including Steinway Hall (NYC), Aotea Centre, and Hong Kong City Hall. He has performed many concertos with orchestras including the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and Nelson Symphony Orchestra. Founder of Artemis Musica, he is also an experienced chamber musician having collaborated with many musicians across the world. In addition to his performing experience, Conroy is a composer, with a focus on writing piano music. His compositions, include the virtuosic ‘Circus Riot’ and a piano concerto ‘Scherzo in the Dream’.
As a piano teacher, Conroy is committed the growth and education of his students to reach their full potential. In good music education, he believes students can learn life-long skills that can be applied to numerous other aspects and disciplines in one’s life beyond music.
